Finding Joy in the Journey

Joy
As promised in my last post about making sure to take care of yourself while getting goals back on track, I’m here again with some strategies, to find the FUN and joy in it all. Some tasks and projects are just not that pleasant, and some even set off some negative storytelling about our worth. But, you know, those are often the ones that simply have to get done. Don’t worry, I’ve got your back. Let’s dive into some ideas about how we can find joy even in the not-so-thrilling aspects of our journey.
.
Mindset mindset mindset 💪! Instead of approaching these tasks with dread, try shifting your approach. Reframing them and spending the least amount of energy as possible on dread. The sooner you can get on with tougher tasks, the sooner they’re done. And for me, that’s a better use of time. Look, youre never going to hear me telling you to pretend. If something sucks, it’s important to be real with that. But don’t spend time on dread.
.
Find SMALL wins 🏆.  Can you look for the silver linings and focus on the positive aspects of the mundane tasks? I always say, “mama loves a check box,” and sometimes I put something on my to-do list just to check it off—to have that feeling of accomplishment. That feeling helps me focus on the positive aspects of boring tasks, and it also, grounds me in knowing that completing these tasks will create space for the more fun items ahead. It honestly never ceases to amaze me, the simple joy and boost in productive flow I get in checking even the smallest items as “done.”
.
Make it matter 🧡. When you Infuse purpose and your values into all things, when you’re super clear and rooted in your why—it helps find the flow even into the less enjoyable tasks. Can you connect those to your larger goals and aspirations? I find that if you can remind yourself of how these seemingly mundane activities or chores connect to your purpose, it helps me align all I’m doing with my bigger vision, and that helps keep me going (and finding the fun!).
.
Create a work haven 🌺. Even in tiny ways—pairing work withyour favorite uplifting (but not distracting!) music, having some small empowering decorations—this can uplift our mood. I definitely encourage having your purpose and values posted somewhere visible as an ever-present reminder of your big vision, but whatever helps you to feel great and uplifted no matter what you’re working on, go for it!
.
Reward Yourself 🙌: And not just at the end of a big project!! Celebrate all the wins along the way, and especially reward yourself for completing those less enjoyable tasks. By treating yourself to something you love—a delicious snack, a short break to indulge in a hobby, or a moment of relaxation—you’re acknowledging your efforts and reinforcing the idea that joy can always be found, even when the going is tough.
.
Remember, life is always a blend of the exciting, the ho-hum, the difficult, and everything in between. While it’s crucial to enjoy the thrilling moments, it’s equally important to find joy in the tasks that don’t immediately spark excitement. I’m so curious to hear what you’re going to experiment with your mindset, up-leveling your space, finding wins and meaning, and how you’ll celebrate in order to find more joy in the day-to-day. Let me know?
.
And remember, as ever, to be gentle with yourself.
