The Power of Groups

You’d think I’d know this by now (have this as my default), but one constant? No matter how much you think you know there’s always more to learn and re-learn. Oh, LIFE! 🙂
.
I’ve been running a group coaching program for a couple of months now and it has been SO fun. Rewarding!
.
Members have set strategic goals, have made progress towards them, and have also learned new things about themselves that have evolved what they thought they were striving for at the beginning. This is normal. I expect this, and it’s honestly fun to see this unfold for a client. For this coach, there’s really nothing quite like seeing a client’s mind get blown in real time.
.
What did I need to re-learn? How absolutely powerful the group format can be. I say “re-learn,” because when I started out as a therapist, I cut my teeth on groups! Working for years with the great Dr. Bonnie Goldstein, my beloved clinical mentor, we ran weekly groups for kids, teens, and adults, so I know firsthand how reparative and life-altering groups can be for their participants.
.
But I forgot.
.
And I’m a little sad about it, I have to admit. Because while I 100% believe that regret is wasted energy, I’m sorry that I’ve dragged my feet on launching group offerings in my business, something I’ve been wanting to do more of for a few years. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love every single one of my individual clients, and am extremely proud of what they accomplish and how they grow during our work together. AND working with small groups has been eye-opening. The format is magic, and frankly, it lets me help more people at a lower price point. I love a win-win.
.
If I may, an offering of wisdom from my own experience: don’t wait! Tomorrow is certainly not promised, so don’t be like me! Get going on that thing you have been dragging YOUR feet on for a while (FWIW, hiring a coach is an excellent way to get into action and layer in accountability to your goals — ha ha, see what I did there 😜 ).
